The Basic X-Guard - The Set-up, the Sweep, and the Kneebar.

Now, this might be the first posting that has to do with the X-guard, and I'm not going to lie- I avoid it like the plague. Every damn time I've gone for one, either my brain shuts down and I can't seem to pull anything off, and I end up brute-forcing the other guy back down with a bad sweep, or my legs get the ever-loving-piss cranked out of them, usually by toehold. Not that X-guard isn't useful. I just suck at it.

Anyway, the important bits:

1) The X-guard setup:

Start in Butterfly guard
Rock and Pop-up
Shoot arm through
Feed legs into position

2) The kneebar:

Control arm-side leg
Push out opposite leg
Bring own leg over from inside
Control under hip, bridge up, finish the kneebar.
