Knee-Wedge Guard Pass

Here's something from Guard Top Technique 101 - The Knee-Wedge Guard Pass

-Control the Hips by pressing down on his lower stomach

-Bring the knee you will be passing with down to the center of your opponent, basically, knee in tailbone

-At the same time, post up on your other leg, bring it back, and sort of sit back towards it. This should create enough space to squeeze your knee through

-Maintain downward pressure and keep the knee close

-Scoot your hip out as well as your other leg to complete the pass into side mount

I personally like the version I learned from watching BJ Penn - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDwQdhSm_G4 - as it doesn't involve bringing the leg back, something that tends to end with me getting my ass swept. Regardless, this is basic technique, and something, regardless of skill level, that you should practice consistently.
