Thiago Silva Admits to Using Banned Substances + Commentary

I was just watching the episode of "Lights Out" where Lights gets some blue shady stuff injected into his ass by Dr. Sporty McShaderson in the shady looking locker room after getting stabbed by his brother that will probably come into play after he beats Reynolds and the test results will come out as shady, delaying Reynold's retirement thus extending his involvement with the show for another few episodes if not seasons (calling it like I sees it, FX) when I read this... did you note the number of times I used "shady" in this paragraph?:

TA: Hey, Vera! *Knocks on Head*
BV: WHAT?!
TA: I totally boned your mom in her rear last night! [whisper]...and took steroids for this bout[/whispering]
BV:  ...What was that?
TA: I was in your mom's buttocks. Barebacked it. *Continues to Knock on Head*
UFC fighter Thiago Silva, admits to taking banned substances, and using a masking agent, following yesterdays accusation of doctoring, by the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Oh boy. I guess that happens when your piss gets a red flag for "not human."
Following yesterday's formal accusation of providing doctored urine samples, by the Nevada Athletic State Commission, Thiago Silva admitted to taking banned substances, in the lead-up to the Vera fight, and also using a masking agent, to hide said substances. Silva fought and defeated Brandon Vera Jan 1st, via unanimous decision.

In a statement released through his camp, to mmajunkie, he had this to say:

"I suffered a severe back injury shortly before the (January 2010) Rashad Evans fight. It was the biggest fight of my career, and there was no way I was going to pull out of it. I fought and lost and was out of action for a year rehabilitating the injury and getting ready to fight again.
"I reinjured my back 45 days before the fight with Brandon Vera. After not fighting for a year, I made the decision to not pull out of the fight. I also decided that the only way I could continue with the fight was to take injections in my back and spine that contained substances prohibited by the Nevada Athletic Commission. I also made the decision to use a product to hide the presence of these substances in a urine test."

A hearing has been set for April 7th, to decide on a fitting punishment. His fight with Vera may well become a no contest.Silva has said he will not contest any actions taken by the commission
"I take full responsibility for making the decision to break the rules and try to cheat the system......I will accept the punishment I receive and will learn from this. I plan to come back as a better person and professional as a result."

So, it's not like we've never seen this before, and personally, having watched that episode of Lights Out just before reading about this was an amusing coincidence, and did make me more sympathetic to the situation Thiago finds himself in, but I have to wonder... what excuse is ever seen as valid or honorable? I mean, the usual answer to this is "None at all," but humor me here. I think the next person to get caught should choose among the following lines:
  1. I wanted to win, so blow me. Wanna fight about it?
  2. I thought that it was heroin! My doc stiffed me, that motherf#$ker!
  3. The little green aliens told me to.
  4. So, like... can I just get an asterisk next to my win or something?
  5. The Japanese fans were cool with it, so chill out!
Your Thoughts?
