UFC on Fox 1: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos Picks and Predictions

War between 2 always very concerned/constipated-looking guys tomorrow. Don't miss it!

For tomorrow's UFC on FOX card, I will be making the picks directly for the preliminaries (I'm fairly confident on these picks), and elaborating further on the Velasques/Dos Santos fight, which I find to be a much trickier one to predict. It's a big freaking night for the UFC, and I'd like to congratulate Dana White and the Fertitta brothers on bringing this to fruition and finally getting MMA recognized as the true sport it is.

Punch Kick Choke's UFC on Fox 1: Cain Velasques vs Junior Dos Santos Picks
Picks are Underlined and Bolded

Preliminary card

Light Heavyweight bout: Aaron Rosa vs. Matt Lucas
Welterweight bout: Mike Pierce vs. Paul Bradley
Bantamweight bout: Alex Caceres vs. Cole Escovedo
Featherweight bout: Mackens Semerzier vs. Robert Peralta
Bantamweight bout: Norifumi Yamamoto vs. Darren Uyenoyama
Welterweight bout: DaMarques Johnson vs. Clay Harvison
Featherweight bout: Cub Swanson vs. Ricardo Lamas
Featherweight bout: Dustin Poirier vs. Pablo Garza
Lightweight bout: Ben Henderson vs. Clay Guida (I'm very torn on this pick, and whoever wins will be an awesome matchup for Frankie Edgar)

Main event

Heavyweight Championship bout: Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos

This matchup is probably one of the best matchups the UFC could have picked for their Fox debut, as this fight will no doubt have an explosive finish. I am actually rooting for JDS, but in the end, I have to go with Cain Velasques as the winner of this matchup. They both have awesome standup, and while JDS would theoretically have the upper hand in the jiu jitsu, Cain has the better wrestling and is just better rounded overall. Cain also has the insane cardio going for him, and while JDS isn't lacking in this regard, CV just has more gas in the tank with an amazing ability to keep at a rapid pace the entire fight.

TL:DR- Unless Dos Santos manages to catch Cain with a big flurry of punches standing, the fight will likely end by Cain Velasques taking JDS down, overwhelming him, and finishing via TKO by the 2nd or 3rd round. I'm still rooting for Dos Santos... WAR CIGANO!
